TECHNICAL & GAME DESIGNER

An Aussie game dev with a love for the boundary between the technical and the artistic

Far Outback

Far Outback is a 2 player, isometric action adventure game. It follows Toad and Gecko, two invasive Australian species who have been stranded from their home. Each of the characters have a distinct kit, with Toad taking up an unwieldy hammer and gecko darting between the fray with his trusty crossbow. Players must combine their skills together to overcome the invasive occupants of this strange land and get home.

Far Outback was inspired by the merging of animation based combat games such as Deaths Door with co-op experiences such as It Takes Two. The visual styling was inspired by the soft and bright aesthetics of Jusant.

It was created as my capstone project at JMC Academy with a team of 12 other wonderful artists and designers. Full credits can be found on the Itch page!

Far Outback will also be featured at PAX Australia in October of 2025!
